Shipping cost of DHL international express from China to Germany

DHL International Express Shipping Rate Table

DHL international express from Shenzhen to Germany adopts a tiered pricing model based on weight segments, with obvious differences in unit prices between different ranges. The 31-199kg range has the most competitive price, suitable for small and medium-sized bulk shipments; the price adjusts slightly for 200-299kg, and stabilizes for shipments over 300kg, meeting the needs of large-volume cargo transportation.

Origin Destination Weight (kg) Express fee (CNY/kg)
Shenzhen, China Germany 31-49 19.11
Shenzhen, China Germany 50-69 19.11
Shenzhen, China Germany 70-99 19.11
Shenzhen, China Germany 100-199 19.11
Shenzhen, China Germany 200-299 22.23
Shenzhen, China Germany 300-499 24.18
Shenzhen, China Germany 500 and above 24.18

Example calculation: For a 150KG general cargo shipment (actual weight), the total freight = 150KG × 19.11 yuan/KG = 2866.5 yuan (excluding fuel surcharge and other additional fees). If the shipment is a light bulky item (e.g., 80cm×60cm×50cm, actual weight 50KG), volumetric weight = 80×60×50 / 5000 = 48KG (less than actual weight), so billing weight is 50KG, total freight = 50KG × 19.11 yuan/KG = 955.5 yuan.

Precautions

1. Billing Rules

  • Heavier weight billing principle: The freight is calculated by comparing the "actual weight" of the goods and the "volumetric weight", and taking the larger value as the billing weight. The volumetric weight calculation formula is length × width × height ÷ 5000 (unit: cm), which is applicable to all DHL international express shipments to Germany.
  • No minimum weight limit for small shipments: For shipments below 31KG, the billing weight shall still follow the "heavier of actual weight and volumetric weight" rule, but the unit price will be adjusted according to DHL's official small shipment pricing standard (higher than the 31-199KG segment).

2. Main Surcharges

  • Fuel surcharge: The base freight displayed in the rate table does not include the fuel surcharge. The surcharge rate is updated monthly by DHL (usually 15%-20% of the base freight) and needs to be calculated and paid separately when confirming the shipment.
  • Remote area surcharge: Deliveries to remote areas in Germany (such as parts of eastern Germany and some rural areas) will incur an additional surcharge, which is usually 4.5-5 yuan/kg (minimum 200 yuan per shipment). It is recommended to confirm the destination postcode with DHL in advance to avoid unexpected costs.
  • Overweight/overlength fee: If a single piece of goods weighs ≥70 kg or has a single side length ≥120 cm, a surcharge of 500-800 yuan per piece will be charged; if the single piece weight exceeds 150 kg or single side length exceeds 200 cm, additional approval from DHL is required, and the surcharge will be increased accordingly.
  • Special handling fee: If the outer box of the goods is labeled with "Do not stack" or the packaging is non-compliant (such as broken cartons, missing cushioning materials), a fine of 1000-2000 yuan per shipment will be imposed, and DHL has the right to reject the shipment if the packaging is seriously non-compliant.

3. Packaging Ban

  • Reject shipments with a single piece weight over 1000 kg; such ultra-heavy goods need to be split into multiple packages (each package ≤150 kg) or choose DHL's dedicated heavy cargo channel.
  • Reject goods with a single side length exceeding 300 cm; the maximum allowable size for a single package is "length ≤270 cm + girth (2×width + 2×height) ≤330 cm".
  • Reject bare-packaged goods (such as unboxed machinery parts, unpackaged furniture); all goods must be properly packaged in cartons, wooden boxes (fumigation-free), or pallets to ensure safe transportation.
